GPS Review for Garmin, Magellan, and Tomtom

Will a Universal MCX Antenna Active Gain for GPS work as a FM TMC traffic receiver for a Garmin StreetPilot C340? If not, what is a receiver that will serve my purpose? Is Garmin StreetPilot C340 a good GPS?

Kijiji or craigslist or E-bay. Here in Ottawa Canada, I use “used Ottawa.com” but you might have a similar on-line classified in your area. Also, hang around the units in the store and when someone comes in to buy one, sell him yours.

Looking to purchase a nav system for my car…..have heard good things about Garmin….anyone have any helpful hints or thoughts on which one is the best value for the $$$? Don’t need the fanciest, but don’t want bare bones either. Thanks ya’ll!

I got the gps system as a gift for Xmas. I tried to use it a few times, but found that it took an average of 10 minutes to get a satellite signal. Since I’m using this unit so I won’t get LOST as I drive around in unfamiliar areas…this is obviously not a good thing. I returned the first unit, thinking I’d gotten a “lemon”. Now, my second one is still not receiving good signals, where it takes about 20 minutes for the satellites to “find” me. All the manual tells me to do is to fnd someplace like an open field to get a good signal to start with. That doesn’t help when I’m already driving around the city. Anyone ever run into this, an what did you do?
